What is Corten Steel?
Corten steel, also known as weathering steel, is a type of alloy steel that develops a protective layer of rust on the surface when exposed to the elements. This rust, unlike that of traditional steels, forms a stable and dense layer that protects the steel from deeper corrosion, while giving it a unique aesthetic appearance, often appreciated for its “aged” or “industrial” look.
Corten steel combines both resistant qualities and a special visual appearance, with shades ranging from red-brown to orange. It is especially popular in regions that are exposed to harsh weather and varied climatic conditions.

What size plancha – hob to choose?
The choice of the size of the brazier plancha depends on the use you want to make of it and the space available. Here are some criteria to help you choose:
1. Brazier diameter 98 cm (larger):
• Larger surface area: A 98 cm fire pit will provide a larger heating surface, ideal for group meetings or heating a larger outdoor space.
• More capacity: It will be able to hold more wood or charcoal, allowing for a longer burn time.
• Space Needed: It requires a larger outdoor space to be used comfortably.
2. Brasero diamètre 82 cm (plus petit) :
• Plus compact : Un brasero de 82 cm est plus adapté à un petit jardin, une terrasse ou un balcon. Il est plus facile à déplacer et prendra moins de place.
• More moderate heating: It will be sufficient for small meetings or more intimate moments around the fire.
• Less consumption: It will burn less fuel, which can be an advantage if you want more occasional use.
In short:
• If you have a large outdoor space and want more intense heating for a group, opt for the 98 cm model.
• If your space is smaller or if you prefer something more manageable and suitable for small meetings, the 82 cm brazier would be more suitable.
What thickness for the hob of my corten steel brazier?
